PAST RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Summer 2002     Research Assistant
Principal Investigator: Gaetano Barile, MD, Department of Ophthalmology, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons

Created a mouse model for proliferative vitreal retinopathy injecting dispase into the eye vitreous of mice in order study various new treatment options.

2000-2001          Research Assistant
Principal Investigator: Mark F. Bear, PhD, Department of Neuroscience, Howard Hughes Institute, Brown University

Conducted electrophysiology studies in the visual cortex of genetically engineered mice studying the effect on synaptic plasticity of overexpressing the NR2B subunit of the NMDA receptor.

Summer 1999          Research Assistant
Principal Investigator: Dr. Roger Beuerman, PhD, Department of
Ophthalmology, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center

Using Reverse Transcription and Polymerase Chain Reaction studied the
induction of stress related genes in various parts of the rodent brain after a head
trauma stress was applied.

CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS

Retrospective review studying the correlation between receiving the Flu Vaccine  and the risk of corneal transplant rejection in penetrating keratoplasty patients.
